Ongoing Research Studies

We are very proud to be the first Canadian institution to be a member of the Canine Bladder Cancer Consortium.

In collaboration with clinics across North America we aim to improve diagnosis and treatment for dogs and humans with bladder cancer.

Recruiting

Radiomic & miRNA Prediction for Urothelial Carcinoma

Bladder cancer is difficult to assess over time. This study collects paired urine and imaging across treatment to build a radiomic algorithm for tumour volume — and to pair with genetics to predict treatment response.

In partnership with the University of Georgia & miRNA Diagnostics.

Recruiting

Oral Tumour Photogrammetry

Funded by the OVC Pet Trust Fund, this study uses the iPhone’s LiDAR sensor to build a 3D model of the head and oral tumour, testing remote trial monitoring against manual and CT measurements. Eligible dogs receive a $250 credit toward their CT scan.

Active

AI for Tumour Segmentation

No models exist for tumour segmentation in dogs and cats. Using our patients’ tumour images alongside CT and ultrasound, we’re building a first-of-its-kind veterinary model that segments tumours across multiple imaging types.

Ongoing

Tumour Banking

We bank small tissue samples after biopsy — plus blood and urine at diagnosis or relapse — to evaluate tumour markers and biology. One of the only private practices in Ontario to offer this, accelerating veterinary cancer research.
