Available Treatment Options
Chemotherapy
Protocols to treat the cancer at the systemic level. Commonly used in pets with immune-cell cancers, or in high-risk solid tumours from the skin and organs.
Side effect rates are lower in dogs and cats than humans, meaning we can provide an improved quality of life and tumour control.
Immunotherapy with the melanoma vaccine is the most common and widely available immunotherapy in veterinary oncology.
Other immunotherapies are not yet available in Canada.
Treating the remaining tumour site or the physical tumour, this procedure involves application of short electrical pulses into the region alongside a chemotherapy treatment. These pulses improve chemotherapy penetration, and trap chemotherapy exposure directly to cancer cells.
Patients are sedated briefly for this procedure
